Pasadena Chalk Art

On our way to our short Disneyland vacation (which was great, by the way) we stopped at the mall in Pasadena to have dinner with Michael and Darcie. I had no idea that the 2014 Pasadena Chalk Festival had taken place the week before. The remaining chalk art covered the floor of the mall. Unfortunately, it had been there long enough for a lot of foot traffic to cross the mall and people didn’t seem to understand the concept of walking around the art work.

Still, it was an impressive showing, and there were still a few drawings which hadn’t been defaced.

I couldn’t help but feel sorry for the artists who put so much time, effort and talent into these wonderful works of art. Yes, they are chalk on a sidewalk, and by their very nature temporary. Still, for the time they are there it would be nice if people would respect the artist and walk around the drawings. There is plenty of room.

Before the footprints and bicycle treads, the Michael Jackson drawing was awarded second place.

The Beatles drawing won first place and was the “Paseo Colorado’s People’s Choice.”

Thank you so much for having respect for the artist, my son being one of them, Ozzie Guillen. It would of upset me to see his hard work disrespected. All of the artist work so hard in the heat , they are all awesome, imagine doing your art work with so much going on around you. Much respect to my son and all the other artist.
