Productivity: Getting Things Done by Focusing

An interesting title coming from a photographer. It came about because that is exactly what I have been doing the past couple days.

Focusing…

…which has resulted in…

Productivity.

Focus

Right now I’m taking a break to write this from a bunch of processing of images in my backlog. As I plodded along in my digital darkroom, I decided it was time to write a blog post and show off what I’ve been doing someplace other than social media.

It has been a while since I have been this focused on processing images. To be honest, I would rather be out making images, but at some point those images have to be made presentable to the world. Stock agencies can be pretty demanding on quality, and straight out of the camera isn’t going to cut it in most cases. So for the last couple days I have made time to focus on working on my image backlog.

Focusing on processing images has resulted in a high level, for me anyway, of productivity. My unit of measure is the lack of image productivity I have had lately.

Focus is a first step in productivity

Distractions can be helpful. They help to clear your head, shift gears for awhile, and can re-energize when you get stuck.

Distractions are not helpful when they are used as an excuse to not do higher priority work.

Distractions are a choice.

This post has become a distraction.

I have written some other articles about distractions, and you can read more:

What I really want to do right now is get back to processing more images.

Before I go, here are some of the images I processed over the last couple days. Click on them and you can see even more.
