204 Wallace C. Bruner, a former ABC News correspondent and a host of the television show ''What's My Line?,'' died on Monday at his home near here. He was 66.

The cause was liver cancer, his family said.

Mr. Bruner, who was known as Wally, began his career as a weatherman for WTTV in Bloomington, Ind. He worked for United Press International before joining ABC News as a correspondent in 1965. He covered the White House, Vietnam and the Dominican Republic for ABC, where his reporting earned him Emmy and Peabody Award nominations.

A year later he became an anchor at WTTG-TV in Washington, and from 1968 to 1972 he was the host of CBS's ''What's My Line?,'' a popular show on which blindfolded panelists quizzed mystery guests in hopes of guessing their identity.

During the early 1970's, he and his wife, Natalie, produced and were the hosts of one of television's first home-improvement programs. ''Wally's Workshop'' was syndicated in 80 markets, running from 1971 to the mid-1980's.

Mr. Bruner, who was active in Democratic politics, served as West Coast news coordinator for former Senator Eugene McCarthy's 1968 Presidential campaign. In 1994 and 1996, he served as campaign manager when his wife, a Democrat, ran unsuccessfully against a Republican Representative, Dan Burton, in suburban Indianapolis's heavily Republican Sixth District.

During the 1980's, Mr. Bruner taught broadcast journalism at Ball State University in Muncie, Ind.

He is survived by his wife, 10 children and 13 grandchildren.
